WORLD IN STATS / PRIVACY

Privacy

How the website handles searches, page visits and contact messages.

Project and contact

World in Stats is an independent data website operated by Martim Abreu. For privacy questions or requests about information sent to us, email [email protected].

Searches and page visits

The application does not require a World in Stats account, collect contact forms or use advertising scripts. Search matching runs in your browser over the published catalogue. Search terms and comparison selections appear in page URLs and may be retained in your browser history or shared when you copy a link.

Filtering the catalogue runs locally. Opening or reloading a URL sends a request to the hosting service, including the requested URL and any search or comparison parameters in it. Do not put sensitive personal information into search terms or shared links.

Hosting and external websites

The website is hosted on Vercel. Serving a page involves processing technical request information, such as the IP address, requested URL and browser request headers. Hosting logs and retention depend on the hosting service and its configuration. External source links lead to websites with their own privacy practices.

Email messages

The contact link opens your email application. If you send a message, your email address, message and any attachments are delivered to the project’s Gmail inbox. Please include only what is necessary to explain your question or correction and avoid sensitive personal information. This website does not submit a contact form on your behalf.

Cookies and tracking

The application integrates Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights for audience and performance measurement, not advertising. It does not store searches in cookies or local storage. Page URLs may contain search and comparison parameters; do not enter sensitive information. See the Cookies notice for the distinction between application behaviour and hosting services.

Vercel Web Analytics

We use this service to understand aggregate traffic and improve navigation. Vercel documents page views, URLs, referrers, filtered query parameters, timestamps, approximate location, browser, operating system and device information. Its visitor identification uses a request-derived hash rather than third-party cookies; the documented visitor session is discarded after 24 hours. This is not a statement that all analytics records are deleted after 24 hours. No custom analytics events are configured in this application. See Vercel’s Web Analytics privacy documentation.

Vercel Speed Insights

We use this service to measure loading, responsiveness and visual stability. Vercel documents Web Vitals, attribution information, route and URL, network speed, browser, device, operating system, country and event time. Vercel describes the measurements as anonymous and not associated with an identifiable visitor or IP address. See Speed Insights privacy documentation.

Measurement retention

The 24-hour Web Analytics session lifetime is distinct from retention of aggregate reports. Speed Insights reporting windows depend on the Vercel plan; a reporting window is not a guaranteed deletion deadline. The project’s plan, dashboard settings and applicable retention arrangements have not been independently confirmed. We therefore do not promise an unverified deletion period for analytics or performance records. See Vercel’s reporting limits.

Operator-specific information

This notice describes the application’s current behaviour. The operator is Martim Abreu. The applicable grounds for processing and the retention periods for hosting logs and contact messages have not yet been confirmed for publication. This is not a complete operator-specific privacy policy. For questions or privacy requests, use the contact email above.

Your privacy requests

You can contact Martim Abreu at the email above to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information you have supplied. Depending on the applicable conditions, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, data portability and withdrawal of consent where processing relies on consent. These rights are not absolute.

You may lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority. The European Commission’s guide to individual rights explains these rights and their conditions.

Service providers

Consult Vercel’s privacy policy for hosting-provider processing and Google’s privacy policy for Gmail. These provider notices do not replace this website’s own obligations. The operator’s applicable international-transfer arrangements and retention settings still need confirmation.
